OUR SCHOOLS' PRESENTATIONS

25th NOVEMBER

When all participants came to Adıyaman the Principal Abdulkerim Işık greeted everyone, presented the school and organised the meeting with all teachers of Adıyaman Anadolu Lisesi. Our meeting was of multinational character. All participants gathered in the assembly hall then.

As the projects concerns on the different impacts of technology on everyday life we took part in the lecture by the researchers of the Adıyaman University Prof. Turhan Koyuncu and Assoc. Prof. Niyazi Yükçü.

The presentation went through both negative and positive sides of technology to make the participants aware of the topic. The professor showed us values of technological progress for many years as well focused then on negative sides of it – disasters, health problems like obesity or alienation.

THE SEMINAR ABOUT GOOD & BAD SIDES OF TECHNOLOGY

After the presentation and the lecture all participants had chance to discuss the area of interest, get to know one another and visit the exhibition of the logos for the project.  All participants received the T-shirts of the project. The final part of the first day were partner schools’ presentations prepared and presented by students from each country. Thanks to that part we got essential information about our schools.

TURKISH EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

26th NOVEMBER

The second day started with the visit to the Director of Education of the Adıyaman Province Mr Ahmet Alagöz. During the visit, there was a presentation of the project’s targets. The teachers from partner countries received information about the system of education in Turkey. It became obvious that although we came from different countries we must face the same challenges during the educational processes. We were glad to receive plenty useful information which broaden our previous knowledge. Before the midday students had the first chance of getting some information about the traditional outdoor games in the assembly hall during presentation part.

Then the whole group went on a fantastic tour to visit some important landmarks in the neighbourhood, such as the relicts of antiquity: Monument Grave (KarakuşTumulus), the Nemrut Mountain, Arsemeia and the Cendere Bridge dating to the period of Roman Empire. The perfect travel in time especially for European part of the group. Students and teachers were searching for differences and similarities of our cultures. That was a perfect live history lesson because we were taught by ancient monuments and we could admire skills of former constructors in the period when there was no modern technology and people had to cooperate with one another.

27th NOVEMBER

The third day the group spent on a trip to the roots of most religions – the place where Abraham was born - Sanliurfa. On the way we visited the Zeugma Mosaic Museum in Gaziantep as well. Unusual places where the relicts of past are presented with the usage of technological devices: multimedia displays or light shows. That excursion could make participants conscious of our common heritage, and the way we can benefit from it.

THE DAY FULL OF TRIPS

28th NOVEMBER

The fourth day of the stay in Adıyaman started early in the morning with the workshops on old outdoor games, such as hopscotch, skipping the rope and the spinning top. The beautiful weather enabled students and teachers participate in it with plenty of pleasure, some of the games were a totally new experience for students. They were cooperating within their national teams. They found the same joy and happiness from these activities. Noone was left behind. The culmination of that day was a National Tournament, where the representatives of countries could compete in each of the game presented and practised during workshops. There were winners, but fun and time spent together in a friendly atmosphere was much more important for everyone.

SPORT COMPETITION RESULTS:

the Hopscotch Tournament –  Spanish Team

the Skipping the Rope Tournament –  SpanishTeam

The Spinning the Top Tournament – Italian Team

Hm......What elso we did...

We conducted 3 short evaluations, and discussed some important issues connected with follow-up activities and handing certificates.

The main target of the meeting was achieved – we focused on technological impact on our lives, looked at its negative sides and found the answers for the solution of nowadays problems. Our youth has been grown up in the world full of technological devices, they cannot imagine the world without the Internet, or smart phones. They cannot imagine life without electronic devices. Although it all makes our lives easier, we may feel isolated and lonely even though there are people around us.

NATIONAL TURKISH EVENING

In the evening all the participants met in the building of Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports on a Turkish night.

A beautiful evening of culture, tradition and happiness.

We danced, sang, tried traditional dishes and used our mobile devices to remember that evening and stay in touch.

The first conclusion of the meeting was that there are no better chances for extending communicative skills than meeting, cooperating or competing.

It broaden our minds, defend us from prejudices and open for the world. Still important thing to remember is that is the technology enabled us preparation of this project thanks to e-twining or internet communicators, and the technology will follow our every step from now on and let us keep our friendship forever.

The second conclusion of the meeting was ... that we must meet again... and again.. and again... to make our friendship stronger and stronger....
